Counter

Generates a formatted number from the form's counter when a new counter item is created.

When to use

Use it for internal order, request, or job numbers. Choose Text for a reference supplied by a customer, or Number for a quantity that users enter.

Settings

• Mask (mask): text surrounding a numeric placeholder.
• Name, bold text, field size, title inclusion, and inline layout.

The last consecutive block of zeroes is the placeholder. With counter value 7, ORD-0000 becomes ORD-0007, and 2026-000 becomes 2026-007. If there are no zeroes, the number is appended to the mask. Prefixes are literal text; the year in this example does not update automatically.

The counter belongs to the form. Changing the mask does not renumber existing items, and this field should not be treated as a guarantee of gap-free numbering.
